Product modeling:
Obviously, it is important to have accurate modeling of the product. Other than hard surface modeling all the products, I also created custom UV maps for each of them.

LET'S DIVE INTO THE PROCESS!
WHY GISOU
As the Gisou pitch is selected, I dived deeper into the research of the brand.
Gisou is a popular hair oil brand with a mission to empower and inspire consumers through nature-based, cruelty-free, and sustainably sourced Mirsalehi honey-infused beauty products.
The brand also aims to raise awareness for their vital role in the ecosystem while fostering a supportive, beauty-obsessed community.
BRAND PRESENCE
Other than their clean product photography and their influencer based advertisement, I personally really enjoy the window display they offer.
From small scale product display window, to big scale, pop up events,
Gisou maintain a consistence bee garden visual presence.
They often use BIG honeycombs with Crepe paper flowers as staging,
so I took that as my main inspiration for the design of this piece.
RESEARCH

RUBE GOLDBERG PLANNING!
The main difference between a Rube Goldberg machine and obstacle course is that a Rube Goldberg Machine accomplishes a simple task through a series of intricate and chain reaction. And as my machine is Gisou branded, I will utilize the flowers, honeycomb and some of their smaller products to accomplish a complete mechanism.

As the assets I would need are quite particular for this project,
I decided to just model everything on my own.
For the flower petal texture, I used bend deformer and displacement deformer, with fields for precise control.
Lastly, cloner to create a bunch of petals!

HONEY ANIMATIONS
I spent some time to explore the best, easy way to achieve the honey animation(without killing my computer!) My solution is to animate with field and vertex map after modeling the bee hive. Then create volume with volume builder with group field. This way the animation is procedural and can be modified anytime if needed.

PRODUCT MODELING
Obviously, it is important to have accurate modeling of the products.
Other than hard surface modeling all the products,
I also created custom UV maps for each of them.

COMPOSITING
To wrap up the project, I brought the render into nuke for compositing.
With AOVs, I mainly tackled some color correcting, on both the products and the environment. Also added a hint of glow and
some tiny tiny depth of field!

FINAL LOOK
A non-Rube Goldberg version so we can enjoy the products alone...
