PORTAL OF 777PALM

WHAT IS PORTAL OF 777PALM?
As the end goal is to transform the building lobby into a experience,
it is important to understand what are we working with...
01 ELEMENTS
A portal that evokes a sense powerful transformation through the four elements. Residents are pulled into the passion of fire, the inspiration of air, the elegance of water, and the calm of earth.
02 SEASONS
A threshold that conveys the passage of time through the four seasons. Residents are guided through the blooming of Spring, the vibrancy of summer, the grounding of Autumn, and the serenity of Winter.
CILENT'S CONCEPTS

01 SEDIMENTED TIME
The portal is shaped by the rhythm of the earth itself:
the accumulation of sediment, the rising of currents, the layers of atmosphere, and the warmth of Earth’s core. These layers unfold in living energy as a reminder that our lives are inseparable from the cycles and forms of the natural world.
02 LIVING BREATHING
Residents call this apartment home: it is a space for rest,
nourishment, activity, and thought. Each day here mirrors the rise and fall of living energy:
the earthly stillness of sleep, the fluidity of community, the airy thoughtfulness of the evening, and the fiery spark of ambition.

03 EBB & FLOW
This entryway is more than just an entrance, it is an invitation into the cycle of nature, ebbing and flowing with the passing of the seasons. The patterns of the natural world come to life: the gentle dance of grass on a spring morning, the pitter-patter of rain on a summer noon, the cascade of autumn leaves, and the swirling of winter snow.
04 REVOLVE TO EVOLVE
The turning of the seasons reminds us that time moves on, even as the years repeat. Yet within this repetition, we are never the same.
We envision an entrance into the passage of time and a lesson in its relentless motion. When you peer through this door,
which season of life will you see in yourself?
Before REALLY locking in with one design, here are our models, mockups,
and interactivity explanation for our second pitch.
ONE LAST PUSH!
After rounds of reviewing, clients decided to select Sedimented Time
as the final conceptual design.
However, they did not enjoy the chandelier design on the ceiling,
and the trunk of the tree is too digitalized.
They also added a new request on top of the existed brief:
"How can it capture the simplicity of a apple store?"
This round of reviewing was a big turning point for this project. Not only because of the client, but as a team,
we want to design something with longevity, something more flexible and of course, something beautiful.

FINAL SOLUTION
After more rounds of modeling iterations, here is our final solution. A tree like art installation inspired by Maire Selby Garden.

THE ASK
The public art installation situated at the entrance of the building should reflects the building’s relationship with its neighbor, Marie Selby Gardens.
On top of that, the installation should prioritize spectacle and interactivity.
The goal is to create "WOW!"
Participants will have the ability to affect the visual through
interactivity with the installation. The content on the art should be evergreenand ever-changing.

We visited a nearby luxurious apartment in sarasota to help with visualization (as the apartment is not built) This gave us insights like how echoey narrow spaces can be, how much light is needed, and the impact of our installation to drivers on the road.

Their concepts provided a base for our ideation...Scroll to see how we develop them!
ITERATIONS
After initial pitch, we are tasked to move on with the elements inspired concept, plus combine some design from different concepts while focus on floor to ceiling design. So now we focus on iterating different possibilities...
